This is the first post on our new site so a little background information will set the stage for what will follow.
Shirley and I got married on the 170ft topsail schooner Mystic at the 2016 Miami Boat Show on Valentine's Day. It was a wonderful ceremony and we even made the Miami Channel 10 news that night. Cruising World Magazine also did a little story on us as well.
The restoration of our Vagabond 47 has been a 7+ year effort but we have rounded third and are heading for home; she is absolutely beautiful. We hope to launch her in Cincinnati in late June or early July of 2016. Upon completion she will become our permanent home. Worst case, if she is not ready by September 1st, we will truck her to Fort Myers and finish her there. We will not be spending another winter in Ohio!
Our onboard adventures will begin when we motor her down the Ohio River and the Tombigbee Waterway to Mobile Bay. Our masts and booms have been shipped from St. Pete (where they were made) to Turner Marine on Mobile Bay. Once we meet up with the spars, we will begin cruising the west coast of Florida, ultimately heading for Cuba and the Caribbean.
